HOW TO UNBRICK/FLASH MediaTek (MTK) DEVICES


Hello, I will be showing you how to flash or unbrick  dead MediaTek (MTK) devices like Tecno, Gionee, infinix, THL etc. using SP Flash Tools. Just follow the steps below carefully and your phone will come back to life.....

 Read the post from here before you follow the tutorial below Very important!!

 See video tutorial  from here
  • Download an install MTK drivers from here. OR
  • Download and install MT65XX VCOM drivers from here or here(Preferable)
  • Download SP flash tool (latest version is preferable) from here.
  • Download the stock rom of the device you want to unbrick or flash. Get stock roms from here.
  • Extract SP Flash Tool and launch.

  • Now click scatter-loading button so that flash process can begin.


  • locate the scatter file of the device. It will be inside the folder of the rom you downloaded.

  • Untick Preloader (not really necessary but a great precaution) tick this if the device is completely DEAD.
  • Please make sure you untick DSP_BL if found on the list shown in SP Flash Tools especially when trying to flash devices with older chips like mt6572, mt6577 etc
  • Now click download button.

  • Power off the device and remove battery (if battery is built in don't worry just continue ).
  • Most new devices now require battery for flashing.
  • Connect the device to the computer with USB and wait for SP Flash Tool to detect it.
  • Hold volume down or volume up button and connect the device for easy detection.
  • Once phone is detected a red line will be seen at the bottom followed by a yellow line.
  • When flashing is completed, a green tick is shown on the screen. Older versions of so flash tool will show a green circle.
  • Insert battery into the phone and reboot device...

  • If your device boot loops after flashing, do a factory reset.
  • Enter into recovery by holding volume down and power button. 
  • Scroll down the chinese menu and tap emmc  to do a factory reset
  • If you don't like chinese, enter into recovery by holding volume up and power button.
  • When you see the android man press volume up an power button again to see menu list.
  • Select factory reset..
  • Reboot device

    Hello pliz help...instaled pop kat on techno h6 succesfully, but unfortunately yesterday when i powered it on it got stuck at boot image (boot loop).When i entered cwm recovery i got a note
    E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
    E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
    E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
    E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
    E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log

    Rom recovery failed

      Do a factory reset. If it doesnt work, Download Tecno H6 stock rom and flash the phone using sp flash tool.

    Thanks for your hard work bro.. I mistakenly flash inifinix x551 1gb ram 16 gb rom lollipop infinix x551 2gb ram 16gb rom.. since the the phone dead totally ..       If it showed white screen, that means the ROM does not match the phone, use another ROM

      To flash a custom ROM you must have a custom recovery on your phone like CWM, TWRP or Philz.
      Copy the custom ROM to your SDcard
      Boot into the custom recovery
      select install from zip
      select the custom ROM and wait for it to install

    Brom error s dl err no space when download the bootloader, somebody knows how to fix this problem? The phone is a plum mtk 6572 and it's dead, i can format the phone and i can download the preloader alone but when i try to download the others files (together or without the preloader) the program show me the error window. I have the only one Stock Rom i could find in internet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtOv6aMXpNE - the guy make a video-tutorial and gave the link with a copy of the program he used and the stock rom inside too)and sp flash tool. Note: The phone don't power on.

    I have htc 816g with mtk 6592 , I make flash to it , and it work well , but when I install recovery with mtkdroid tool , the device stop and it make reboot continuously,
    I want to flash it again , but sp flash tool stuck in red bar (download da 100%) , and my pc make sound that the device plug out and in .
    I tried many versions of sp flash tool without any success , I disconnect the battery socket and reflash it and that does not success , press volume down and plug in the device but no benefit .
    Is there any solution for that ?

      When you see "PMT changed for the ROM", use Firmware upgrade or Format + Download. But make sure the firmware you are about to flash is for that device oo

    pls i ve a Tecno z mini which displays invalid imei and also hangs after few minuets of turning on. At times it hangs with a blur screen and when it does that nothing responds until the battery drains off.

      For the imei issue you can easily solve It using mtk engineering app.
      For your hanging problem, you can flash the device using its stock rom and see if it solves the problem.

      Note that not all hanging problem is as a result of the phone software. Sometimes after using most mtk devices for long period of time lets say a year, small amount of heat can cause the chip inside the device to pull up a bit making the phone to freeze till the next reboot. In this case the chips are needed to be padded with pieces of paper or something else.

      If you see a red bar on SP flash tool when you connect the device, that means your device is detected. But if not, know that MTK USB drivers are not properly installed.

      I omited the step above ,and what I did was wipe all partion xcept bootloader then I flashed the whole loaded file on all partition. After flashing successfulv phone not booting up only vibrates wen power button is pressed. Doesn't come on

    so after sucessfully flashing the stock rom for hot note, the touchpad stopped working. reflashed it numerous times and even reverted back to kitkat, same issue. pls help me guys

    I flashed INFINIX X600 note me please x532 with x533 rom it killed the phon, ok thank GOD dead cant be detected by pc, had to unscrew it runned a wire connection from the boot resistor or capasitor(just boot ic) to ground of the pannel, but now it rights brom error though i have downloaded its x532 rom lollipop and the other version same result, any idea to wake this phone this phone? customer on my neck, you can PM to give you more review of the phone condition

      You do not need to flash your phone. The main chip inside your device is getting bad. ie when you are using your phone the temperature of the chip rises which makes it expand and this will make the device freeze. If can solve the advice problem then your device will be fine 😁

      If your PC can see the tablet when you are not trying to flash it, then you have not installed mtk vcom drivers properly. If not, your usb port has issues

      Normally u just have to check the build number of the device then I see if it matches that of the firmware to download. But if you don't have access to the build number, Just download the latest firmware of Tecno c7 and flash your device

      Simply download and install flashtool for Sony Xperia devices. The full driver is found inside the installation package ie C:\flashtool\drivers
